Las Vegas represents one of the most popularly visited cities not only in the US, but also in the entire world. It’s considered a major resort city, with a myriad of shopping, gambling, entertainment and fine dining opportunities. Las Vegas also has great nightlife. Because of all this, Las Vegas is commonly referred to as the “entertainment capital of the world”. Las Vegas is the financial, commercial and cultural center of Nevada. Interestingly enough, the city has more AAA Five Diamond hotels than any other city in the United States.

Las Vegas is located in the Mojave Desert in Nevada. This location greatly influences the climate and weather. Las Vegas’ climate falls under the category of a subtropical hot desert climate. This type of climate is characterized by long, very hot and humid summers. It also has pretty mild to slightly chilly winters. The transitional seasons, which are spring and fall, are usually warm and quite pleasant. Las Vegas has a lot of sunshine, because of its location in the desert. On average, there are 310 sunny days per year in Las Vegas. Because of this abundance of sunshine, Las Vegas is considered to be the sunniest, driest and the least humid city in the entire US. Las Vegas has an extremely low dew point, its humidity never goes above 10%. The highest temperatures occur in July, reaching around 104°F. The record low temperatures usually happen in January and December, as they’re usually around 39°F. All in all, the climate of Las Vegas might not be suitable for people who don’t like extremely hot and dry weather throughout the majority of the year. On the other hand, if you enjoy really hot climates with little to no rain, Las Vegas is the perfect location for you.
